Zone Heating and Cooling
Control Your Home Temperature with Arzel Zoning
Arzel® has been the industry leader for the latest in retrofit zoning products. A zoning system is a type of HVAC control that allows you to control the heating and cooling within your home. What’s unique about Arzel® is that they have also dedicated themselves to confronting the challenges posed by the ever-changing face of HVAC technology. Their research and development focus has been, and always will be, specific to zoning products. Their product lines include dampers for all sizes and configurations of ductwork. They have developed the HeatPumPro™, which is the industry’s first integrated control panel and zoning solution for high efficiency heat pumps. They also now have the Zonocity™ kit, which is our zoning control package designed for small duct, high velocity (SDHV) systems.
Arzel’s warranty coverage is the best in the industry. All panels are covered for five (5) years and dampers are covered for ten (10) years under a full parts and labor warranty. Arzel’s product reliability is the reason we use Arzel®, comfort is the reason you should.
How do zoning systems work?
Zone heating and cooling control systems allow you to dedicate specific areas of your home into cooling and heating “zones”. Each zone is controlled separately by a thermostat. These systems allow you to take control of energy usage in your home with the ability to adjust based on your specific needs. Zoning systems work using two main components: electronic dampers and thermostats. Dampers are located in your ductwork and control the flow of warm and cold air throughout your home. The second part of each zoning system is the thermostat. A thermostat is installed in each zone to control the dampers in your air ducts.
Advantages of using zoning systems
There are many benefits of zoning your home. Remember that one area in your kitchen that is ice cold? Or your bedroom that is always hot no matter what? Zoning your home allows you to control those hot and cold spots by setting specific temperatures for each room. If you have a large or multiple story home, it can be difficult to eliminate these hot and cold spots. You can’t beat science; heat rises, which is one of the reasons why your bedroom is so warm. Zoning systems give you the control to distribute heat evenly throughout your home.
Another benefit of a zone heating and cooling system is that you can essentially make everyone in your home happy. If you like your bedroom warm but someone else likes their bedroom temperature a bit cooler, you can set each room to the ideal temperature. No more fighting over the thermostat!
Zoning systems cost
The cost of a zoning heating and cooling system depends on your area, the size of your home, and the company you work with. An estimated cost for installing a zoning system in your home would be between $2,000 and $3,500, depending on the number of zones. If you have a two-story house, your cost will be lower, but if you have a four-story house, you’ll land on the higher end. Talk with your contractor to see what will be both cost efficient and energy efficient.
